Tour Overview

This private journey links India’s best-known Mughal and Rajput landmarks with the sacred river towns of the Himalayan foothills. Begin with the contrasting quarters of Delhi, continue to Agra for the Taj Mahal and imperial fortifications, and explore Jaipur’s palaces, astronomical instruments and fortified hilltop architecture.

After the heritage circuit, the route turns towards Haridwar and Rishikesh, where the pace becomes more reflective. Evening Ganga Aarti, riverside walks and time around established ghat and ashram neighbourhoods offer a thoughtful counterpoint to the grand scale of the earlier monuments.

Travel is by private air-conditioned car with a professional driver, allowing sensible comfort breaks, flexible photo stops and a pace tailored to your arrival time. A Delhi overnight between Jaipur and Haridwar also makes the northbound road journey more manageable.

Monument opening arrangements, local access rules and Aarti schedules can change, particularly around festivals and security measures. Your final sightseeing order should be checked before departure, including the Taj Mahal’s regular Friday closure.

Tour Itinerary

Your Day-by-Day Journey

Explore your private India tour day by day, with comfortable travel, sightseeing and carefully planned experiences.

Private pickup in Delhi from the airport, hotel or agreed point. Sightseeing is planned around your arrival time and may include Jama Masjid and the Red Fort area in Old Delhi, followed by Humayun’s Tomb, India Gate, Parliament House drive-past and the presidential district in New Delhi. Monument access and traffic conditions determine the final sequence. Arriving the previous evening is recommended for a fuller day of sightseeing. Overnight in Delhi.

Drive from Delhi to Agra, approximately 230 km and 3.5–4.5 hours of driving via the expressway, excluding comfort stops and city traffic. After hotel check-in, visit Agra Fort, the Mughal citadel with its audience halls and palace apartments. Later, visit Mehtab Bagh for a view across the Yamuna towards the Taj Mahal, subject to local access and conditions. Overnight in Agra.

Visit the Taj Mahal at sunrise, when scheduled on a day other than Friday and subject to official opening arrangements. Return for breakfast and check-out, then drive towards Jaipur via Fatehpur Sikri, around 240 km from Agra. Explore the former Mughal capital before continuing to Jaipur; total driving is typically 5.5–6.5 hours, excluding the Fatehpur Sikri visit, meals and breaks. Overnight in Jaipur. If the planned Taj Mahal morning falls on a Friday, the itinerary order must be adjusted before confirmation.

Full-day private sightseeing in Jaipur. Visit Amber Fort, then explore the City Palace and Jantar Mantar; both opening arrangements should be checked close to travel. Pause for exterior photographs at Hawa Mahal and at Jal Mahal, where visits are generally limited to viewing from the roadside rather than entry. Allow for city traffic, walking within monuments and optional shopping time. Overnight in Jaipur.

Drive from Jaipur to Delhi, approximately 270 km and 5–6.5 hours of driving, depending on traffic, road conditions and comfort breaks. Check in on arrival and keep the evening free for rest, an independent dinner or optional arrangements. This Delhi overnight deliberately breaks up the longer northbound journey towards Haridwar, avoiding an unnecessarily demanding single-day drive. Overnight in Delhi.

Drive from Delhi to Haridwar, approximately 220 km and 5–6.5 hours of driving, excluding breaks and variable urban traffic. Check in at the hotel and later proceed to the Har Ki Pauri area for the evening Ganga Aarti. Ceremony timings, crowd levels and viewing access vary by season, festival dates and local management; seating cannot be guaranteed. Overnight in Haridwar.

Travel from Haridwar to Rishikesh, approximately 25 km and 1–1.5 hours of driving, although traffic can extend the journey. Explore selected riverside ghats and the established ashram neighbourhoods, with time for relaxed walks and independent spiritual visits. An optional yoga session may be arranged subject to instructor and venue availability. Attend evening Ganga Aarti at an appropriate local venue, subject to current schedules and crowd controls. Overnight in Rishikesh.

After breakfast and check-out, travel by private car from Rishikesh to Delhi, approximately 250–270 km and 6–8 hours of driving, depending on traffic and breaks. Drop-off is available at a Delhi hotel or airport. For an onward flight, allow a generous buffer for road delays, airport transfer procedures and check-in; a late-evening departure or an additional Delhi night is often the more comfortable choice.

Frequently Asked Questions

Tour FAQs

Eight days gives a well-paced introduction to the principal heritage sights and the two riverside towns, provided road days start reasonably early. It is not a slow, in-depth stay in every place, but the Delhi overnight after Jaipur prevents the journey to Haridwar from becoming too long. Add nights if you want extended shopping, wellness time or a deeper Rishikesh stay.
The tour begins with a private pickup in Delhi, usually from Indira Gandhi International Airport, your hotel or another pre-agreed address. It ends with a private drop-off at a Delhi hotel or airport on Day 8. Share flight details well in advance so the driver and final transfer timing can be planned sensibly, especially for early departures.
The Taj Mahal is regularly closed to visitors on Fridays, so a tour whose Day 3 falls on a Friday needs a revised order before confirmation. Depending on your dates, Agra may be visited earlier or later, or the Jaipur sequence may be adjusted. Your operator should reconfirm the current monument calendar, as exceptional closures and access restrictions can also affect plans.
Private transport means an air-conditioned vehicle with driver for the scheduled intercity journeys, pickups, drop-off and sightseeing transfers described in the itinerary. Standard road costs such as tolls, parking and driver allowances are normally included when stated in the package. It does not automatically include a guide, entrance tickets, meals, extra detours or vehicle use beyond the agreed programme.
Not unless they are specifically listed in your confirmed package. This itinerary is designed around private vehicle and driver services; hotels, local licensed guides, monument tickets and meals can be added as separate arrangements. This keeps the plan flexible, allowing you to select preferred hotel standards and decide where an expert guide would add the greatest value.
Ganga Aarti is an evening devotional ceremony with chanting, bells, lamps and large local gatherings beside the river. Expect security checks, uneven walking surfaces, close crowds and limited views during busy periods, particularly on weekends and religious dates. Timings change with the season and venue. Respectful viewing is straightforward, but reserved seating and participation should never be assumed.
Wear modest clothing that covers shoulders and knees, and choose shoes that are easy to remove where required. Carry a light scarf or shawl, particularly for temple visits and cooler evenings. Follow local signs, avoid photographing worshippers or ceremonies without permission, speak quietly and do not enter restricted shrine or ashram areas. Alcohol and smoking are inappropriate near religious sites.
Yes, a private or small-group yoga session can usually be requested in Rishikesh, but it is an optional service rather than an automatic inclusion. Availability depends on the instructor, season, class schedule and venue policies. Tell us your experience level, preferred style and any mobility concerns in advance. Access to particular ashrams or resident programmes cannot be guaranteed.
October to March generally offers the most comfortable conditions for sightseeing, though mornings in Delhi, Agra and Jaipur can be cool and winter fog may delay road travel. April to June is much hotter, especially on the heritage circuit. Monsoon months bring rain, humidity and occasional traffic disruption, while Haridwar and Rishikesh can be particularly busy around religious festivals.
Yes. The route can be adjusted for arrival times, Taj Mahal closure dates, preferred hotel categories, guide requests and additional time in Rishikesh. You may also add a Delhi night before departure or after the tour if flight timing makes the final drive less comfortable. Any changes should be confirmed before travel because monument schedules, road conditions and seasonal demand affect feasibility.
