Tour Overview

Begin in Kochi before heading into the Western Ghats, where Munnar’s neatly patterned tea gardens, cool air and wide mountain views set a calm tone for the week. Your private chauffeur-driven vehicle makes the changing landscapes easy to enjoy, with sensible stops en route and no need to manage public transport.

In Munnar, there is time for tea-country scenery, viewpoints and a relaxed look at the hill station’s natural setting. Continue to Thekkady, Kerala’s spice-growing country, for the fragrance of cardamom and pepper plantations and a choice of nature experiences around Periyar. Wildlife activity varies by season and sightings cannot be guaranteed.

From the hills, descend to Alleppey’s quiet canals and Vembanad Lake. An overnight private houseboat stay offers a slower view of the backwaters, with palms, village life and open water passing by at an unhurried pace. It is a distinctive Kerala experience, best enjoyed with a light schedule and time on deck.

The journey concludes in Kochi, where Fort Kochi’s waterfront, Chinese fishing nets and layered trading heritage provide a fitting final contrast to the mountains and waterways. Premium stays can be selected to suit your preferred comfort level, while the itinerary remains relaxed and practical. Houseboat timings, reserve activities and heritage-site opening hours should be reconfirmed when planning your travel dates.

Tour Itinerary

Your Day-by-Day Journey

Explore your private India tour day by day, with comfortable travel, sightseeing and carefully planned experiences.

On arrival at Cochin International Airport, meet your private chauffeur and travel to your hotel in Kochi. The day is deliberately light, allowing time to rest after an international or domestic flight. If you arrive early and feel refreshed, consider a gentle walk around Fort Kochi’s waterfront or a relaxed dinner at your hotel. Your driver will confirm the following day’s departure time for the hills. Overnight in Kochi. Airport transfer timing and any sightseeing today can be adjusted to your flight schedule.

After breakfast, leave Kochi for Munnar on a scenic drive into the Western Ghats. The journey generally takes most of the day with comfort stops, and the route climbs through changing vegetation, small settlements and plantation country. Arrive in Munnar and check in to your selected hotel. The late afternoon is best kept free to enjoy the cooler air and mountain setting at your own pace. Your chauffeur can suggest a suitable nearby viewpoint if time and weather allow. Overnight in Munnar.

Spend the day discovering Munnar’s signature landscapes with your private vehicle at disposal. Depending on weather, road conditions and your interests, the day may include tea garden viewpoints, a tea-related visit where available, cascading falls and open stretches of highland scenery. Eravikulam National Park or other local attractions may be considered, subject to opening days, permits and timing. Avoid trying to cover every sight; Munnar is most rewarding when explored at an easy pace. Return to your hotel for a second night in Munnar.

After breakfast, continue by road to Thekkady, a greener region known for spice cultivation and the Periyar landscape. Check in and later visit a spice plantation or garden to understand the growing of cardamom, pepper, cinnamon and other crops commonly associated with Kerala. A Periyar activity, such as lake boating or a guided nature programme, can be arranged according to current availability and reserve rules. These experiences take place in natural habitat, so animal sightings are always variable. Overnight in Thekkady.

Leave Thekkady after breakfast and drive down towards Alleppey, where Kerala’s landscape changes from forested hills to low-lying waterways. Board your private houseboat around midday, subject to the operator’s confirmed schedule. Settle into your cabin and watch canals, paddy fields, palms and waterside homes pass by from the deck. The boat cruises at a gentle pace and usually pauses for the night in a calm backwater setting. Meals and operating arrangements depend on the selected houseboat. Overnight aboard the houseboat.

After breakfast and houseboat check-out, meet your chauffeur for the drive back to Kochi or Cochin International Airport. Travel time varies with traffic and your departure point, so an appropriately timed transfer should be planned in advance. Guests with a later flight may add a brief Fort Kochi visit, taking in the Chinese fishing nets, St Francis Church area or Mattancherry lanes, subject to time and site opening hours. Private transfer services conclude on arrival at the airport or designated Kochi location.
